Bill Paxton dead at 61, current star of CBS Training Day

Actor Bill Paxton dies at 61 after complications from surgery Saturday.

The four-time Golden Globe nominated actor recently the starred in CBS new show Training Day, which was a sequel to the 2001 hit movie that Denzel Washington won an Academy award for. Paxton most notably was nominated for four Best Performance Golden Globes, three for television series Big Love and the other for television movie A Bright Shining Lie (1999). He was also nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor for television mini-series Hatfields and McCoys (2012).

Actor Tom Hanks paid tribute to Paxton via Twitter. The two worked together in Apollo 13 (1995) and reunited to star in The Circle (2017) together along with actress Emma Watson.

“Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man…Hanx,” Hanks tweeted.

His co-star in Training Day Justin Cornwell also tweeted about him.

Paxton acted in many films including Aliens (1986), Twister (1996), Titanic (1997) and 2 Guns (2013) with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.
