Keeping distance from the Kardashians, Lamar Odom speaks out

Lamar Odom opens up about dating Khloé Kardashian and is firm on whether the two would get back together again.

Odom interviewed with Wendy Williams on “The Wendy Williams Show” last week. Odom’s relationship with Khloé, recovering from addiction and future plans were topics addressed during the interview. The biggest question was whether or not Odom would get back with Khloé after all they went through together.

“No,” Odom said. “I say that with no offence to her. That would be the best to both of us, you know what I’m saying, keep our distance.”

During the interview he reminisced on how they met and their relationship.

“I didn’t know who she was when I met her,” Odom said.

The two met at Odom’s then Los Angeles Laker teammate Metta Worldpeace (formerly known as Ron Artest before he changed his name). After Odom and Khloé were a couple for a month, they married. Entering the Kardashian family and having his personal life broadcast on television, including a spin-off focusing on his relationship with Khloé, was “overwhelming.”

“It’s overwhelming a little bit. Overwhelming to me and to even the people that were close to me,” Odom said.

During his marriage, Odom was addicted to drugs and would often get high. The only Kardashian that knew about his then hidden addiction was Khloé until an incident brought up his struggles.

While the two were about to divorce Odom slipped into a coma in 2015 after spending time at a brothel. While TMZ reported Odom had cocaine and an unknown pill substance in his system when ambulance took him from Love Ranch brothel in Nevada, Odom denied those allegations when Williams brought them up.

“I didn’t take any drugs that night,” Odom said.

He also denied that he spent several days at the brothel.

“I wasn’t there for a day,” Odom said. “I woke up in a coma, I don’t know if I spent more than a day there. I don’t think so…I think that was God just trying to talk to me to get me to stop doing whatever I was doing.”

Only two woman were in the room and no one had sex, Odom said. After waking up from the coma he couldn’t walk or talk and had to relearn all that. To support, Khloé visited Odom without the cameras.

“She held me down at that time,” Odom said. “Their family is really close nit…that’s what intrigued me about their family.”

Now that Odom’s moved on and no longer in the family, he hasn’t talked to any members in the family for years. This includes his once brother-in-law Rob Kardashian, who lived with Odom and Khloé after they married. Then, Odom and Rob were tight like real brothers but now Odom hasn’t even met Rob’s child.

“I guess because maybe I hurt his sister too much,” Odom said. “I mean if she was my [sister] I would have a problem with me too.”

Next for Odom may be assistant coaching for the Lakers or possibly returning to reality television under the right circumstances. If the show is about dealing with addiction or trauma, Odom could show others the way on addressing those challenges.

“If the right opportunity came about…I can probably help a lot of people,” Odom said.

If Odom is in fact approached with an offer for a spin-off reality show starring Odom, they just may use the title Williams suggested. “Lamar Goes It Alone.”
